E HOA - FRIENDS OF
BROAD BAY SCHOOL
Friends of Broad Bay School (also known as Friends or FBBS) is the 'whānau/family association' at Broad Bay School. FBBS uses the strengths of our whānau and community members to work together to provide resources and opportunities that enhance the educational experiences of our tamariki, and therefore, the outcomes for our community as a whole.
Our aim is to enhance the cultural, sporting, and educational outcomes of the tamariki in our kura. This is achieved through supporting initiatives by kaimahi/staff, tamariki/students, whānau/families, and community members. We also organise and/or sponsor opportunities that will enhance the kura and the learning of our tamariki.
HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?
HUI/MEETINGS
Hui/meetings and fundraising events are a great way to get to know our community. All whānau/caregivers are welcome to attend FBBS hui - we love to have involvement and representation from as many people as possible, in whatever way or amount suits you, without obligation or pressure to join the FBBS committee.
BECOME A COMMITTEE MEMBER
Anyone can join our FBBS committee. You can participate as little or as much as you want in whatever is going on! We all understand that our available time and energy changes day by day and term by term… we try to keep the workload to a minimum! We hold meetings during term time, approximately once a month, which can be joined by video or in person (sometimes with a glass of wine and some cheese!) You have our invitation to come along to any of these to see what they are like.
STAY UP TO DATE VIA MESSENGER
We have a ‘FBBS specific’ Messenger Chat where we share ideas and keep things ticking along. You might want to join this to read and know what is going on, and/or to share your ideas. Sometimes we use Messenger to vote on things, and we would love you to have your say in those situations too. We have an email list to share agendas, minutes, and other notices. If you want to be on that list please send your email address to friendsofbroadbayschool@gmail.com
TAKE ACTION
If you have ideas for a project or extension activities, or you wish the kura had some resource(s) to support or enhance learning for your whānau we would love to hear about it! If your idea will enhance school life for your whānau, it is bound to be beneficial for others too, and we welcome your input.
